Masters Degree Course Curriculum
42 credits
Each candidate for a Masters degree in Theology (Th.M.) or Divinity (M. Div) must complete the requirements for an Associate and Bachelor degree plus the following courses.
Degrees Offered:
Masters of Theology or Divinity.
Required courses to meet 2004 Florida Statute Title XLVIII, Chapter 1005.

The nature and content of religion: 6 Hours
Definition:
Provide 3 definitions of "religion".
Questions that religions address:
Discuss 4 concerns that religions attempt to answer.
Religious practices:
Identify 3 principle practices that religious beliefs typically include.
Contrast among religions:
Discuss how monotheist and polytheist differ with respect to: Number of gods; Gender of gods; Sources of authority; Ethical focus; and Afterlife issues.
Approaches to relating to the beliefs of others: 6 Hours
Discuss how religions deal with the differing doctrines and practices espoused by other religions with respect to:
(1) Exclusivism; (2) Inclusivism; (3) Pluralism; and (4) Syncretism or the attempt to reconcile disparate, even opposing, beliefs.
Religion in relation to other closely related topics: 6 Hours
Discuss: (1)Religion and spirituality; (2)Religion and science; (3)Religion and myth; and (4) Religion and Occam's Razor.
Methods of studying religion subjectively: 6 Hours
Discuss these methods of studding religion: (1)Historical; (2)Archeological: (3)Sociological; (4) Psychological;
(5) Philosophical; and (6) Literary approaches.
Development of religion: (6)
Name and briefly discuss several models for understanding how religions develop; The impact of demographics of religion in 19th and 20th centuries; Modern reasons for adherence to religion; and Modern reasons for rejecting religion.
History: 3 Credits
Read and submit a brief summary for each of chapters #7-16 provided.
Naturalism: 3 Credits
Define and discuss the 9 chapters of this work.
Defense of Naturalism
Summarize and discuss this Master of Arts Thesis.
Business and Law Concepts: 6 Credits
Read and briefly discuss: Board of directors; Chief Executive Officer; Board Committees; and the Mission and Purpose sections.
Read and briefly discuss: Creating a Non-profit; and Creating a Community Foundation.
