Religious Functions

General Services:
American Pantheist Church Ministers perform weddings, assist in pre-marriage ceremonies, funerals, spiritual teachings, rites of life passage initiations  spiritual counseling, personal success training, hold seasonal ritual services, open local affiliated churches, and serve as "guides" to those seeking the way to personal peace and fulfillment.  Due to changing and complex social demands, American Pantheist Ministers and Chaplains are frequently called upon to serve as Interfaith Ministers.

Religious Recovery Concealing:
Some Society Minister's provide a special service we call "Religion Recovery Counseling". Many people who become society members are refugees from the religions of their parents. They are people who've taken risks by thinking for themselves and forging their own paths, and in the process have abandoned the religions traditions in which they were raised.

Conventional religions that teach fear, guilt and self-doubt have a crippling effect on a developing human mind, and although many people succeed at breaking free, the process is not an easy one. People seek help with this struggle for many reasons. Sometimes it's because they're planning a wedding in the midst of a family conflict over religion. Others are starting families and are being pressured by their parents to baptize the children or raise them in a particular religion. Some are simply questioning what they've been taught and are looking for alternatives.

Pastoral Counseling and Religious Alternatives:

Our society is a serious religion and we are serious about our religious business and practices.

We encourage our Ministers to provide Pastoral Counseling that can provide therapy for a wide variety of life's problems, including: Anxiety, Depression, Loss & Grief, Marriage & Couples Counseling, Divorce and Recovery, Family Conflict, Addiction and Co-dependency, Trauma and Abuse, Women's and Men's Issues, Job Dissatisfaction, Personal and Executive Life Coaching and Pre Marital Counseling.

in addition, our Society attempts to provide religious alternatives through our Guide and Mentoring services. A good religion is not based on fear, promises of eternal life that cannot be fulfilled or the teachings of some ancient text that has been manipulated by self serving men. Our society is for men that can think and observe real life and its promises for today's success and well being.

Fee or Pro Bono Services
Although we feel many of our responsibilities as religious leaders should be provided Pro Bono, many qualified Society Ministers charge a standard fee for counseling, coaching or personal consulting services.  Hard working professional religious leaders can earn good incomes, enjoy certain tax advantages and command a special prestige in the community.  In addition, many companies offer discounts and other benefits to ministers.

We strongly recommend that the fee be reasonable and is discussed with the client prior to providing services.  Subject to local usual and customary guidelines, we suggest group rates at $25 to $35 per hour and private counseling at $75 to $125 per hour.

Social and Therapeutic Practice:
The Society's social practice is philosophical and is devoted to helping one to understand "where you have been, where you are, and where you are going".  It is not therapeutic in the traditional psychological sense.  Society ministers should encourage anyone with emotional or mental 'problems' to sort them out first with qualified professionals.

Our guidance is therapeutic in the sense that it deals with the fundamental questions of life and it is the role of the philosophical guide to facilitate the process of the normal person's coming to grips with these deeper and more profound questions that revolve around the meaning of life and their place within the world.  The society's counseling is based upon fundamental pantheist concepts and practices and is specifically designed to assist individuals to cope with and resolve undesirable conflicts caused by traditional religious teachings.

Religious Rules and Regulations:
We abhor the psychological and spiritual damage that many main line religions cause good people with artificially contrived concepts of heaven and hell and false promises of special afterlife rewards for adhering to a set of self serving church or temple rules and regulations.

Unlike conventional religions, our society does not impose unrealistic demands on the individual to profess belief and adherence to artificial concepts of good and evil, reward and punishment, or blind worship of some unseen deity that exists only in the framework of ancient and primitive stories.  Our baseline objective is to help each individual cultivate insight and wisdom, and to deepen and integrate both thought and feeling in the faculty of “the thinking heart.”

In brief, our social and coaching services are focused on helping the individual to cultivate personal understanding, clarity, and authenticity, rather than imposing a predetermined model or system of behavior.
